Girls rule, boys drool - at least in Canadian Olympic hockey...

Canada got 24 medals, whooo take yer shirt off! Only Germany and the US got more than us (and frig, they didn't get much more than us). I watched some of the events. Ice dancing was awesome, as was figure skating. I watched Clara Hughes and Cindy Klassen win medals in one of the speed skating races. Also, I saw some of the curling match where the Newfie team won. I didn't watch most of the hockey games, but whooo our girls kicked some Swedish ass! Reminds me of that time when I was in Sweden, when Canada played against Sweden in some big hockey final, and won. I was the only person in Sundsvall who was happy! Frig, the boys hockey team should have asked the girls for some tips, maybe they would have won a medal! Well, the boys team was made up mostly of old fogeys who are past their prime. Frig, if Sidney Crosby had been on the team, they would have won gold! On the Canadian Olympic team this year, more medals were won by women than by men. Which will be awesome for girls who want to play sports. Yay for the Canadian medalists!

Last week while eating supper, my mom turned the tv on, and on the screen there was a tanned guy in a bullfighter jacket looking really nervous. I was like "is he a bullfighter?" and my mom said "looks like it..." but then we realized that he was actually an olympic figure skater who had just finished his routine and was waiting for his marks. Quite the cutie too...

Male figure skaters are hot. Like dancers, they're strong yet graceful, and man enough not to let our society's standards prevent them from strutting their stuff.

And I noticed that a lot of the figure skating and ice dancing routines had a Spanish theme to them. Aside from Evan Lysacek in a suit of lights, there was an ice dancing couple who skated to the music from Carmen, and a few others that wore Spanish-style costumes and/or skated to Spanish music. Gah, I can't wait to go back to Spain next year!

The ECMAs were on, but I didn't go to any of the events. Tim and Elmer played at Rum Runner's but I couldn't go because it was at 2am and I had to work the next morning. Aside from that, I'm just not into the music. Most of it doesn't appeal to me. Last time the ECMAs were in Charlottetown, the only reason I wanted to go to the awards show was because the Jive Kings were performing, and I was so angry that I couldn't go (too much school stuff, didn't have time).

I went bowling with some people from the faith society on Friday and it was fun. Neal and Ryan were dressed identical, they even had matching bowling shoes! Thomas Price, who also got dissed on tv in the Canadian Idol auditions was there with his buddies. I chatted with him and he wants to audition again.

Meh, that's all for now...

Grrr Valentine's Day... I need me a love potion.

The Olympics have started and Canada's got a few medals. We'll likely win gold in hockey though, so far we're winning over other teams by a landslide! Go team Canada! I watched the opening ceremonies on tv, and they rocked. I especially loved the dancing and aerial acrobatics. Roberto Bolle was great as the futuristic hero guy, though I prefer him as Romeo or other classic ballet characters. As soon as I heard the name "Roberto Bolle", I ran to the tv to watch! Though I expected to see him dance more, he was awesome! And just for fun:

When watching the Olympics opening ceremonies, you know you're a Harry Potter nut when:

-As soon as the Bulgarian delegation comes in during the Parade of Nations, you think "Hmmm... I wonder if Viktor Krum is among them?"
-You wonder if Quidditch is among the sports that will be played, until you realize it's not a winter sport!
-When the Olympic torch is lit, you think "ooh, the Goblet of Fire!"

(for the record, I know Quidditch only exists in the HP books!)

Cupid can kiss my ass. I need a love potion - Professor Slughorn, brew me some amortentia... I could do for some felix felicis too...

I entered a contest on this site to win a handmade Harry Potter wand. Except if I win, the one I pick has to be less than $45 and the one I want is more than that...

The weather's been nuts lately. Last week, it was like spring, but last weekend we got a blizzard. Can't wait for it all to melt!

Nothing else exciting going on in my life... bleh.

Life is blah right now...

Alrighty, since Rachel checks my blog daily and begged for an update, here it is! :) Well, not much of an update, since life has been boring lately. Same 'ol, same 'ol. This town is dead at this time of year.

Finished re-reading Harry Potter Book 6. Book 7 is gonna be intense...

Mr. Squirrel was around a few days ago. At this time of year, I thought he'd be hibernating...

The weather has been nuts. We had a blizzard, then rain, and today it was like springtime, then it started snowing tonight.

I saw Dreamboat recently. As usual, we just ignored each other. Grrr, men...

Julia couldn't take the Harry Potter theme idea for the "Cool" dance because it would be a costuming nightmare. Argh, this dance totally should have an HP theme! Especially now that Mikey has a solo, since he's the one who looks most like Harry, it would work out perfect! Yes, I'll accept Julia's costuming ideas and I understand why this would be a costuming nightmare (funkified Hogwarts uniforms) but every time I dance it, it's impossible for me not to picture the class as Griffindor vs Slytherin!

I'm going to be competing in the music festival this year! I'm entering in the musical theatre category, and singing "My favorite things" from The Sound of Music. I just hope I don't end up accidentally singing "The Gilderoy Things" from the hilarious HP parody I found a while ago...

Canadian Idol auditions aren't coming to Charlottetown this year, so if I decide to go, I'll have to go either to Halifax or Montreal. Don't know if I'll end up going, since it's at one of the busiest times of the year and travel takes too long...

Speaking of Montreal, I've been thinking of moving there. PEI is boring and there is no way I'll live here permanently without going crazy. Montreal is my favorite city in Canada, so that's my first choice. A while ago, I considered Calgary (good job market and high salaries, among uh, other things...), but for obvious reasons, that one got blasted off my list. Toronto is cool, but not my favorite. Halifax is good, but I don't really feel a love for it like I do for Montreal. I want a cosmopolitan city full of arts and culture, and Montreal is just that. Many times when I've gone there, I felt that it's where I belong.

What I'm thinking, is that I'll probably stay on PEI for a little while to be sure of this idea. Then I'll go to Spain next spring because I've been thinking of returning for a long time and the idea still appeals to me. Then, I'll go to Montreal.

Heartache still won't leave me, even if I try not to think of it, it always creeps back into my thoughts somehow. But I prayed that God would take my pain and convert it to grace for my future husband. Considering my emotional state for the past month, my future hubby is probably getting enough grace to fill up the Cologne Dom and then some... Frig, the graces he's getting could probably fill up St. Peter's in the Vatican, while using the Sistine Chapel as a storage room for the excess!

My friends and I are doing our Way of the Cross play again this year. Whooo!

Anyway, that's all for now...
